Meet the organization behind Visit Troll Peninsula

Ferðaklasi Fjallabyggðar

Building a stronger tourism destination together. Ferðaklasi Fjallabyggðar is the destination management and marketing organisation behind Visit Troll Peninsula, working to promote sustainable tourism, strengthen local businesses, and showcase the unique experiences of Fjallabyggð.

Ferðaklasi Fjallabyggðar

Working together for a stronger destination

Visit Troll Peninsula is the official destination website created to help visitors discover the landscapes, communities, experiences and people of Fjallabyggð,

the northern most area of Troll Peninsula, north Iceland.

Behind the website is Ferðaklasi Fjallabyggðar, a local tourism cluster bringing together tourism businesses, the municipality, local stakeholders and others who share an interest in developing tourism in the region.

We believe Fjallabyggð is stronger as a destination when we work together. Our role is to connect people, businesses and ideas, strengthen cooperation and help build a destination that is welcoming to visitors while remaining a great place to live, work and do business.

The Fjallabyggðar tourism cluster consists of a board, and a small team working on the operation, but we wouldn’t be anything without our members.

The heart of our work

Our mission

Our mission is to strengthen tourism in Fjallabyggð and promote the area as a diverse, inspiring, and welcoming destination throughout the year.

Marketing & Promotion

We are developing Visit Troll Peninsula as a destination platform for visitors, travel professionals, and media.

We bring the destination together in one place, while visitors book directly with the businesses providing the experience.

Through our website, photography, promotional material, and future marketing activities, we aim to communicate what makes Fjallabyggð distinctive.

Destination Development

Our work focuses on practical projects that strengthen Fjallabyggð as a tourism destination.

Our goal is to help create a destination where visitors are inspired to stay longer, explore further, and discover the many experiences, communities, and landscapes in Fjallabyggð.

Tourism does not stop at municipal or regional boundaries.

We are building relationships with regional and national tourism organizations, travel trade partners, media, airlines, tour operators, and other organizations that can help bring more attention and opportunities to Fjallabyggð.

Building Partnerships

We are developing shared resources that can support both destination marketing and our members.

These include photography and media resources, tourism information, contacts, promotional materials, and digital tools.

Creating shared Resources

A strong destination is built on strong local businesses and meaningful connections.

Through our membership, we create opportunities for tourism businesses and other stakeholders to connect, share information, collaborate, and take part in projects that benefit the wider destination.

Supporting local businesses
Building a Shared Brand

A destination is more than a logo or a slogan. It's the people, places, stories, and experiences that make it what it is.

We are working towards a shared identity that reflects the real character of Fjallabyggð and the Troll Peninsula.

This process will involve local businesses, residents and other stakeholders so that the destination identity is created together.
